“One who sees all beings in the Self, and the Self in all beings, hates none”
“He who experiences the unity of life sees his own Self in all beings, and all beings in his own Self, and looks on everything with an impartial eye”
“But God has combined the parts of the body and has given greater honour to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honoured, every part rejoices with it”
“O men! Behold, we have created you all out of a male and a female, and have made you into nations and tribes, so that you might come to know one another. Verily, the noblest of you in the sight of God is the one who is most deeply conscious of Him. Behold, God is all-knowing, all-aware”
Caught in the primal web of ignorance, EGO continues to constrict the innocence out of minds.
As the oceans of wisdom (above) derived from the world’s faiths clearly show us, the aim of the Divine, is to educate us, and remove the animalistic instinct which we shallowly understand as ‘tribalism’.
MY family, MY City, MY Country, MY race, MY culture, MY football team, MY RELIGION.
When we remove the words ‘I, MY and ME’ from our thoughts and sentences, then the battle against Haumai (Ego) is truly underway. It is Ego, which has, does and will continue to, cause divisions amongst man in every single aspect of life.
“Placing mind and body in offering before the Lord, they conquer and eradicate egotism from within”
Sri Guru Granth Sahib
Reading this article, you may think you are devoid of EGO or now understand how to remove it. It’s not that simple. The Guru tells us, to eliminate the “I”, we must offer our mind, body and soul to the Creator. We do this by undertaking a serious and passionate study and PRACTICE of his revelation.
The great LIGHT of Kalyug, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji says “There is no Hindu, There is no Muslim”.
Although some again use this divine quote as a method for creating further division, the Guru’s message in the socio-religious-political context of the time is crystal clear; there are only people, and the actions of man (good or bad) evidence his belief and subservience to the creator.
To expand on the above truth, the 10th Nanak destroys the delusion of ‘them and us’ further still:
“The Hindus and
Muslims are all one, have each the habits of different environments; all men
have the same eyes, the same body, the same form, compounded of the same four
elements: Earth, Air, Fire and Water. The Abekh (Formless) of the Hindus, And
the Allah of Muslims are the same. The Koran and the Puranas praise the same
Lord. They are all one in Spirit. The One Lord made them all.”
